Some of the most powerful change starts close to home. Here are two practical ways to bring people together where you live and make sure your community's voice is heard.

Bring people together through film

A film night is one of the simplest ways to get people in a room together. It gives you a shared story to start a conversation about the things you care about, from local nature to healthier homes to the future you want for your area. Choose a film that means something to you and your community, and our new film programme will help you make it happen. It includes guidance on securing a licence and suggested films to get you started, on everything from wildlife and clean water to community energy and the right to roam. You'll also find routes to bring a screening to your local cinema through the UK Green Film Network, or to set up a community cinema of your own with Cinema for All.

Follow up with your MP

This September, over 9,000 people across the UK invited their MP to take part in a Westminster Hall debate on biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security. Now it's time for the next step.

Our simple guide helps you send your MP a short, personal message. You can thank them, ask them to back action on climate and nature, and invite them to work with you on what matters where you live. There's a template to get you started, it takes about ten minutes, and you don't need to be an expert. MPs pay most attention when they hear from the people they represent, so a few words from you can go a long way.

Whether you're getting in touch for the first time or keeping an existing conversation going, this is your chance to put your community, and what you care about on your MP's radar.

Join the Build. Grow. Lead programme

Want to organise local climate and nature action that lasts? Build. Grow. Lead is our six-month community organiser programme, running July to December. Through monthly sessions and ongoing peer support, you'll build or strengthen a local group, grow its leadership, and leave with a concrete plan to make Great Big Green Week 2027 your biggest yet. Find out more and sign up →
