Introduction

We take your privacy very seriously and we're committed to protecting your personal information online. This statement explains how we collect and use the information which you give us. 

Collecting personal information is necessary if we are to satisfy the expectations and requirements of our supporters. We appreciate that you don't want the personal information you provide to us distributed indiscriminately and here we explain how we use your personal information and let you know what rights you have regarding its use.

In some areas of our website, we ask you to provide personal information that will enable us to enhance your site visit or contact you with information you request or that may be of interest to you, e.g. when you subscribe to our newsletters, or take an online action. Examples of your personal information include your name, postal address, phone number and email address.

How is the information used?

If you've indicated that you're interested in receiving further information about our activities, we may send you information about campaigns that we feel may be of interest to you. We'll only send you information about our work by email where you've given us your consent to do so.

Emails we send you will always give you the chance to opt out of receiving further emails or alternatively, you can contact us using the contact information above. We don't send out random, untargeted emails, known as spam.

We will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information except as outlined in this policy or when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe the law requires it.

We place great importance on the security of your personal information and we always try to take appropriate precautions to protect it.

The data we collect from you will not be shared with third parties except where a trusted company is used to build an online action. Where other companies are used to capture data on our behalf, these activities are carried out under contract in compliance with the Data Protection Act requirements. We will not share data with coalition member organisations unless you have completed a Climate Coalition form via a member organisation’s website and have given permission to be contacted by that organisation. We will ensure this information is transferred securely.

Information which you submit via our website is sent to a computer located in the United Kingdom. This is necessary in order to process the information and to send you the information you have requested. Access to personal information is limited to those with a strict need to know. Any employees with access to personal data receive training on their responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 1998. 

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk.  

Accuracy

The accuracy of your information is important to us. If you change email address or if any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date please contact us using the above contact information.

Any information we hold that is incorrect will be amended or deleted promptly. We will give you confirmation of corrections and deletions.

The protection of children is very important to us. If you are under 18, please do not provide us with any personal information. Children should always ask a parent or guardian for permission before sending personal information to anyone online.

Our site contains links to other sites. We cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other websites even if you access them using links from our websites and recommend that you check the policy of each site you visit.
