Show the Love 2026: why it matters and how you can take part
Every February, people across the UK make and share green hearts with their politicians to show what they love - and what they want to protect.
At the heart of Show the Love is a simple, visible act of care and leadership. It’s rooted in pride for our communities, care for the places we love, and hope for the future we’re building for our children. From towns and villages to cities and neighbourhoods, green hearts are a way of sharing what’s at the heart of everyday life, and why it matters.

Show the Love has been part of the movement for over a decade, offering people a simple way to stand up for the people, places and spaces they love and want to protect from climate change and loss of nature.
In 2025, that spirit took on a powerful new form. The Climate Coalition worked with The People’s Picture to create a striking public artwork made from thousands of images submitted by people across the UK. Together, those images were combined to form a giant mosaic - a tapestry of care and connection - showing the places we love, from coastlines and community gardens to sports grounds, parks and streets.
The final artwork was projected onto the White Cliffs of Dover, with support from celebrities like Stephen Fry, Bella Ramsey and David Harewood. It helped make visible just how many of us care - and how deeply.
In 2026, Show the Love focuses on the things people from all walks of life love and want to protect in our communities. From local parks to community centres, football pitches to rivers, love for our communities unites us all. At a time when politics can feel divided, Show the Love highlights that there is more that unites us than divides us: a desire to protect our homes, our health, our nature, our livelihoods, and the future we pass on.
Show the Love offers a way to show leaders that support for climate and nature action is grounded in everyday care and local pride - not abstract politics. Because climate and nature action is at the heart of a healthier, fairer, safer future.. And climate and nature action is at the heart of strong communities.
A simple but powerful action
At the heart of Show the Love is a simple action: sending a green heart to your local politician.
Each green heart carries a short, personal message about what’s at the heart of your community - whether that’s clean air, warm homes, local green spaces, secure livelihoods, or the wellbeing of children and neighbours.
These messages don’t need to be long or technical. They’re powerful because they’re personal, visible and rooted in place. When local leaders receive green hearts from the people they represent, they see what matters most to their community - in people’s own words.
Every green heart carries a story worth protecting.
Three easy ways to take part
There are a few simple ways to Show the Love, depending on what works best for you.
1. Make your own green heart
You can also create a green heart in whatever way feels right for you. People make them from paper, recycled materials, drawings, baking, leaves, fabric or digital designs. There’s no right or wrong way - what matters is the meaning behind it.
2. Send a digital green heart
From 14 February, you’ll be able to use our digital postcard to send a green heart and message to your local politician in under a minute. It’s a quick, accessible way to take part from anywhere.

3. Share your hearts online
Once you’ve taken action, you can share your a photo of your green heart, or the postcard you’ve sent to your MP online with #ShowTheLove2025 and tag @theclimatecoalition on Facebook and Instagram, or @TheCCoalition on X to let people know what’s at the heart of your community.
Bringing people together locally
Some people choose to Show the Love together.
Across the UK, communities, schools, faith groups and workplaces have created simple, welcoming spaces where people can make green hearts side by side – a table in a community centre, a wall in a school, a shared moment at a local event. Often, local politicians are invited to come and see these messages first-hand.
These moments don’t need to be big or formal. Small, informal gatherings can be just as powerful. If you’re interested in hosting an event, check out our community action pack with ideas and resources for anyone who wants to bring people together locally. The campaign officially launches on February 14th, but you’re welcome to start preparing or crafting your green hearts whenever you like!
Communities leading the way
Every year, Show the Love is shaped by the creativity and leadership of communities themselves.

From thousands of green hearts displayed by residents and students in Guildford, to eye-catching green heart formations created by pupils at Challock Primary School in Ashford, to Women’s Institute members giving new life to a disused bus shelter - and local Greenpeace groups combining green heart crafting with litter picks and beach cleans - people across the UK are already taking action to care for the places they love.

Show the Love connects these efforts, showing that while every community is different, the care at the heart of them is shared.
Why this matters
Show the Love is about pride, care and connection. It’s a small action, repeated across the country, that shows climate and nature action is at the heart of stronger, healthier communities. It reminds us - and our leaders - that protecting what we love by acting for climate and nature is how we make progress - together.
This February, you’re invited to take part in whatever way feels most right to you. Send a digital postcard. Make a green heart with others. Share what’s at the heart of your community.
