Show the Love this February

Every February, people across the UK make and share green hearts with their local leaders to show what they love - and what they want to protect.

At the heart of Show the Love is a simple act of care and leadership. It’s rooted in pride for our communities, care for the places we love, and hope for the future we’re building for our children.

This year, we invited people everywhere to share a green heart with their local politician - a visible reminder that caring for people, climate and nature is at the heart of a healthier, fairer, safer future for us all.

How people took part this year

Across the UK, green hearts popped up in windows, on postboxes, in school halls and on politicians' desks. Together, we turned care into something visible, hopeful and impossible to ignore.

And this is what that collective action achieved:

  • 💚 Nearly 500 green heart postcards sent to politicians across the UK.
  • 💚 Our message brought directly into Parliament, where community voices spoke to a cross-party group of MPs about why climate and nature action matters. Read more on that here.
  • 💚 Inspiring local action nationwide - from tree planting in Bramhall, to Women’s Institute yarnbombing projects, to community energy advice sessions in Surrey and beyond.

From hand-knitted hearts to powerful conversations with decision-makers, people found their own way to Show the Love. And together, it added up to something bigger than any one action.

A clear message to leaders

Thank you to all those who took part this year. You helped make this moment possible. Every green heart sent to an MP carried a story. Every projection, assembly, community gathering and postcard added up to a visible, cross-community mandate for action.

People across the UK are showing they want clean, affordable energy, thriving nature, secure livelihoods and political leadership that matches the care already being shown in towns and cities nationwide. And that message is being heard.

Why Show the Love matters

Show the Love has been part of the movement for over a decade, offering people a simple way to stand up for the people, places and spaces they love.

In 2025, The Climate Coalition worked with The People’s Picture to create a striking public artwork made from thousands of images submitted by people across the UK. Together, those images were combined to form a giant mosaic - a tapestry of care and connection - showing the places we love, from coastlines and community gardens to sports grounds, parks and streets.

The final artwork was projected onto the White Cliffs of Dover, with support from celebrities like Stephen Fry, Bella Ramsey and David Harewood. It helped make visible just how many of us care - and how deeply.

In 2026, Show the Love focuses on the things people from all walks of life love and want to protect in our communities. From local parks to community centres, football pitches to rivers, love for our communities unites us all. At a time when politics can feel divided, Show the Love highlights that there is more that unites us than divides us: a desire to protect our homes, our health, our nature, our livelihoods, and the future we pass on.

Show the Love offers a way to show leaders that support for climate and nature action is grounded in everyday care and local pride - not abstract politics. Because climate and nature action is at the heart of a healthier, fairer, safer future. And climate and nature action is at the heart of strong communities.
