transitionlinlithgow

Transition Linlithgow

Transition Linlithgow formed in 2008 primarily on the issue of Climate Change and the lack of local action. Since then, we have become a registered charity and official members of the global Transition network focusing on efforts which boost community resilience and sustainability. T.L. have created allotments, planted orchards, encouraged home insulation, raised the profile of local food, given energy advice to residents, project managed installation of hundreds of solar panels, assessed the need for improved sustainable travel infrastructure, operated an eco-advice centre and worked with local organisations to raise awareness of climate change, peak oil and economic contraction.
Transition Town Berkhamsted

Transition Town Berkhamsted

Transition Town Berkhamsted are taking action so their town remains a vibrant place, both for now and into the future. They are making the town able to carry on regardless of external shocks, such as recessions, commodity price rises and climate change. Berkhamsted will be an example of what is possible, to help others get over their inertia, leading the way from high-carbon to low-carbon. TTB is part of the Transition Network, with over 1000 similar grass roots initiatives spread over the world.
Transition Town Kingston

Transition Town Kingston

The Transition Movement began in Totnes 2005 with the aim of encouraging communities to "transition" to a low-carbon, healthier, happier future, and reached Kingston upon Thames in 2008. Since then, Transition Town Kingston has nurtured several practical sustainability projects and shown films and held discussions and other events to raise local awareness of energy issues and climate change, while a management team tries to coordinate all this activity.
UKYCC

UK Youth Climate Coalition

The UK Youth Climate Coalition aims to inspire, empower, mobilise and unite young people to take positive action on climate change for a cleaner, fairer future. We believe that to tackle climate change we need an inspiring vision of how we want the world to be and a movement that anyone can feel part of. At the UKYCC we place an emphasis on issues which relate closely to young people as part of a wider, cross-generational movement for change.
UNA

UNA-UK

The United Nations Association - UK (UNA-UK) is the UK's leading source of independent analysis on the UN, and a UK-wide grassroots movement. UNA-UK believes that a strong, credible and effective UN is essential if we are to build a safer, fairer and more sustainable world. We advocate strong government support for the UN and demonstrate why the UN matters to people everywhere. UNA-UK derives great strength from its members and supporters, and UK-wide network of local, school and university branches. Together, we form a critical mass of support for the UN in the UK and beyond.
Unicef

Unicef

UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. UNICEF provides medicine, food and water for children to survive and flourish, and education and protection to change children’s lives for good. UNICEF UK raises funds for UNICEF’s emergency and development work around the world and advocates for lasting change for children worldwide. This includes working to change government policies and practices that restrict child rights in the UK and internationally. In the UK, UNICEF campaigns on climate change, hunger, UK child poverty, aid effectiveness and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Westminster Justice and Peace

Westminster Justice and Peace

Westminster Justice and Peace has long worked promote the importance of being responsible ‘stewards of creation’ or protectors of the environment. We see global issues such as refugees, war, peace and climate as fundamentally linked: the Vatican statement, ‘If you want peace, protect creation’ resonates with us. Our cycling pilgrimage to Paris is an exercise not only in awareness-raising amongst our members, but also towards solidarity with others for the same goals.
