JUNE TO SEPTEMBER: FORMAL PUBLIC CONSULTATION
Between 30th June and 22nd September 2017, the Scottish Government held a public consultation on their new Climate Change Bill. Across the whole SCCS coalition and 38 degrees, more than 18,000 people took action to call for a more ambitious targets and urgent action to fight climate change.
AUTUMN: POST CONSULTATION
Scottish Government collates and reflects on the responses they received during the consultation. They draft up a proposed Climate Change Bill and what it could entail.
NEW YEAR: DRAFT BILL
Scottish Government publishes its draft bill.
SPRING 2018: STAGE 1
Scottish Parliament and MSPs listen to views and take evidence on what is in the draft bill. This is the chance for people to make their voices count about what is outlined in the bill and any changes to make it more ambitious.
SUMMER 2018: STAGE 2
Scottish Parliament and MSPs continue to take evidence and start to propose changes (known as amendments) to the bill. Look out for a mass lobby or a call to get in touch with your MSPs to let them know what you would like to see in the bill.
AUTUMN 2018: STAGE 3

END OF 2018: ROYAL ASSENT
Bill becomes law!
